This year I am participating in a reading challenge that encourages you to go ahead and read some of those books you already own, but haven’t yet read, instead of going for new book purchases and perpetuating the
hoarding, ahem, collecting of new ones.
Roof Beam Reader is issuing this challenge to read 12 books in 12 months that have been on your book shelf or your “To Be Read” list for over a year. You can read more about the challenge here. I’d encourage anyone to take this challenge, even if you don’t have a blog to officially participate. Be a good steward of what you have and read those neglected books! You might just find a real treasure.:)
Here is my official list. I will attach links to my reviews as I write them.
1. Deep River by Shusako Endo
2. On the Road by Jack Kerouac
3. The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares
4. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
5. A separate Reality by Carlos Castaneda
6. A Tale of Two Cities By Charles Dickens
7. Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
8. The Shack by William Paul Young
9. The Guardian by NIcholas Sparks
10. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
11. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
12. Nightmare Academy by Frank Peretti
***Alternates:
Cottage by the Sea by Robin Jones Gunn
The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson
Oooh, I love Nicholas Sparks. I can’t remember if I read The Guardian or not, though! Good luck with your challenge!
Thanks Steph! I enjoyed browsing your blog! I’m kinda new, and pretty slow, but I’m enjoying working on mine.:)
